Hi Friends,
It’s been a while since I posted on here with a card.
So my son asked me to make a card for a new lady friend. He said that she liked weasels alot, Yellow tulips, and dogs! I seem to have every other animal possible but weasels! So I know I have tulips a bunch!
Pulled out my Honey Bee Lovely Layers Tulips and the Greenery dies. Die cut the pedals from MFT Lemon Chiffon and the greenery is from Gina K. Designs Grassy Green cardstock. Then I inked blended on the Lemon Chiffon with Pink Fresh inks, Sunshine, Sweet Mustard, and Marigold. Using the Marigold on the back pedals for the most dimension. The front pedals had the Sunshine ink with just a touch of Marigold. I wanted to use the Sweet Mustard but it just didn’t seem to be enough, so I went with the Marigold. On the greenery, used SSS Pawsitively Inks- Fairway and Field. Only applying the inks at the base of the leaf. Also using another leaf from the set, it looks like Eucalyptus leaf. Cutting it out with MFT Sno-Cone and applying Distressed Oxide Tumbled Glass, Lost Shadow and Hickory Smoke. The Stemen was from Lawn Fawn Canned Pumpkin. Once all the tulips were inked, I then gave them curves! Taking a tool or pen that was circular. Wrapped the pedals around in the direction either curving towards the back or forward. Just depends on the look you are going for. With some of the pedals I did add foam adhesive to give it stability when all together.
Once the tulips were all built I then grabbed the Wooden Crate from Honey Bee also. Thought about using the Mason Jar but it was rather large and would have to add stems to have them show through the vellum I was going to use. So the crate is the one, cutting from Sno- Cone also and adding the Lost Shadow ink for depth.
I laid it out on top of a 4 1/4 X 5 1/2 card base to make sure I wasn’t going out to far with the tulips. Seeing I needed more more tulips made one of each of the small and medium tulips. Making sure to have room for a sentiment! Went to the Bitty Buzzwords from Honey Bee and used the Birthday with shadow, Black sentiment and White shadow. Then I heat embossed white embossing powder on black cardstock, using anti-static bag first the small Happy word. Cutting out with a small sentiment strip die.
Background! Using Honey Bee Woodgrain embossing folder with Neenah Solar White 80 pound spritz the back with water. Ran it through the Spellbinders Platium6. Once that was done I than ran over the top of the woodgrain with Distress Oxide inks, Tumbled Glass and Lost Shadow. Cutting the panel down to 4 X 5 1/4 inches. to mat with Gina K. Soft Stone cardstock.
Laying out is always a struggle, using the new Waffle Flower grip mat 8.5 X 8.5 to hold in place. Once I thought I had the arrangement done I tried the Saran Wrap to pick up and glue down. Things went okay but I then realized I laid it over to the right to much! UGH! So adding more of the greenery to fill in. I had a thought! Grabbing the one small tulip and leaf placing it on the bottom left of the crate! As my friend said, Brilliant! Also making a bow with Lawn Fawn Silver and white twine, using a glue dot to add on to the card.
