Mickey Flags & Banners

Hi friends, I’m back with another Mickey from the Simple Stories Say Cheese Collection from Spellbinders June release. How cute is this collection! I thought it would be fun to make the Mickey heads from the Steamboat Willie Duo Die set into balloons for this card with also using the new Flags & Banners Die set.

To make the Mickey Balloons using the Steamboat Willie Duo die set with the new Onyx Glossy Treasured Cardstock,. It just couldn’t be a basic card stock, I wanted a more like a Mylar balloon. The top piece is the Antique White Assortment,, it is more of a mat finish. And the Tongue is from the Ruby Assorted pack, that has a satin finish. These Treasured card stocks are fabulous, and I want them all!

Next, I die cut out the Flags & Banners from Spellbinders-Pomegranite & Raven, MFT-Lemon Drop & Cornflower card stock. Backing the flags with white, I tried the black but it just didn’t stand out as well.

There are these small dies to use to tie on the banners to the balloon strings. Which are from the previously released, Fly a Kite Die Set. I die cut them out of the glitter Antique white from the Treasured Card stock. I also die cut them out of the same Glossy Black to add underneath the balloons.

For the back ground, I used a panel of Neenah Solar Classic Crest and die cut it out with the second smaller scallop die from Heartfelt Thanks die set. With the larger die to mat I die cut it out of Raven card stock. After I had die cut out the white panel I ran it through the Tiny Dots Embossing Folder.

Adhering it all together and adding foam squares to the back of the balloons and the flags.

What do you think? Cute idea with the Mickey heads making them into balloons!
