Distress Mix-3D Embossing Folder

Hi Mixed Media Friends! I know we are a little surprised on this card, I know I am! Today Iโ€™m showcasing the Distress Mix 3D Embossing Folder that is part of the Beautifully Imperfect Collection over at Spellbinders October Release.

This card was really fun to make, I literally had no idea on what I was doing! Just playing around with Distress Spritz Sprays-Twisted Citron and Tumbled Glass and the Distress Foundry Wax-Gilded.

I ran the Distress Mix 3D Embossing Folder through my P6 with black card stock. Next with it in my splatter box, I sprayed on the Twisted Citron in a couple of different spots. Then did the Tumbled Glass in the other open area. I wished I did a little less to let more of the black card stock come through. Because of that I did do a couple sprays of some black spray that I have in my stash.

I let it dry and then with the Gilded Foundry Wax all shook up. I put a little on my glass mat, tapped my one finger in. Then I tapped it off to the side to remove part of the wax. I found if I had to much on my finger tip I would smear it on the panel where I didnโ€™t want it. After I had it where I was happy, I heat set the wax with my Ranger Heat Tool.

Next, with the Butterfly Silhouettes Registration Press Plate & Die, I colored the solids part of the full butterfly with Altenewโ€™s Fresh Dye Ink-Fresh Leaf and Ultramarine using the registration sheet on the Chase from the BetterPress Letterpress System. And then ran it through with the Chase and plate through my P6.

As I was doing that I also was heating up my Glimmer Hot Foil System. Once it was heated up, I had transferred the outline die and the registration sheet and the paper on to the system. I found it easiest to tape it all together, and flip the paper back to add the Gold Hot foil on and flip it back down. One thing I did is flip all it over to look through the clear sheet on the back side and make sure it was lined up properly before it was all heated and the foil was on. If it all looked good and pressed the timer and then ran it through my P6.

Then in the set there is a die to cut out the butterfly. Next, with a Tuxedo Black Memento pen I colored in the edges to blend in with the back ground of the Distress Mix panel.

For the sentiment in my stash, I used the Sending Smiles Sentiments Clear stamp and Dies from a May release. I stamped and Gold Heat embossed the โ€˜Tons of Loveโ€™ on Raven card stock. Popped it up with some foam squares and called it done!

Okay! So thoughts on my first mixed media card? I will say that I think it turned out really pretty for my first time. I love all my mixed media friends and what they do!

Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful day!
