Hi friends, I’m trying to get caught up from being gone in Ohio. So I’m running a little late on sharing the new Chess & Checkers Etched Dies that are part of the Checkmate Collection from Spellbinders.
Funny story, when I was in Dayton, Ohio and my daughter and I came back from Create in Columbus, Ohio. We walked into the house with her boyfriend passed out asleep and the TV was on. He was watching on YouTube on how to play Chess better. It was an instruction tutorial! 😂😂 Poor Guy was sleep deprived and exhausted from Drills that weekend! Or maybe the tutorial was so boring!😂

Anyhow, on to my first card!
I started off with the Harlequin 3D Embossing Folder and the Harlequin Stencil with a standard A2 panel of Kraft card stock. I ran the panel through with the embossing folder. Next, I placed it on a grip mat and the stencil on top of it inking on the Black dye ink. You do have three layers of stencils to work with for the diamond shapes. I then trimmed it down and matted it on a black card stock.

Then with the Checker dies from the Chess and Checker Etched dies I die-cutt them out with alabaster, black and glossy black card stock.
With a A2 panel of Alabaster card stock I stamped out my sentiment directly in the panel. The sentiment is an older stamp set from Simon Says Stamp in my stash.
Placing the checker board at an angle, I trimmed off the extra hanging over the panel.
I stacked up a few checker pieces and attached them to the board with liquid glue.
For a pop of red I added a few hearts die cut out with the Classic Mouse Love dies.

For my second card,I started by die-cutting out the Chess pieces using a lot of glitter, metallic and Matt card stocks in the same colors. Then lying out my design I knew where the chess pieces would be, I inked on the shadows with the Harlequin Stencil.
Next, I ran the panel through with the Harlequin Folder and then trimmed off 1/4 Inch matting it on a black card stock.
For the sentiment it was another from my MFT stash. I stamped and White heat embossed it.
Again I added red glitter hearts using the Classic Mouse-Love dies.
