Hi crafty friends, I need a birthday card for a friend so I decided to play along with the Inspiration Challenge over at Altenew!

At first with the colors all I could think about was Christmas. But once I went to my Altenew stash and the Grand Dahlia Dies were perfect.

Next, I went over to my Altenew Fresh Dye inks to see if I have a red ink. Using the Mahogany Bark, Burnt Red, Milk Chocolate,Reindeer Moss, and Fresh Leaf.

I started off by die-cutting out all the layers to the three flower dies and leaves with white card stock. Laying the die-cuts on a grip mat, I ink blended with the depth in the center of the flower pedals going to a white tip.

When I went to do the leaves I kept one area free from color and added the Milk Chocolate ink. I wanted the leaves to look as though they were changing colors.

After my flowers and leaves were all colored up and attached together with liquid glue. For my background I needed to make a mask to ink blend on my panel rather than masking off the edges. I die-cut with a rectangle die in the center of a piece of copy paper because it’s see through to make sure it’s centered.

Using Canyon Clay, Burnt Red, and a small amount on the bottom Milk Chocolate inks.

Keeping the edges masked and having the flowers and leaves in a splat box I splattered on Splatter Effects at Spellbinders.

Once it was all dry I laid out my design to figured out where my sentiment would go.

I found in the February 2024 Craft Your Like Splendid Bouquet stamp set the best font and size of a “Happy Birthday”

Attaching the flowers and leaves to the panel with liquid glue. I found some perfect embellishments in my stash to adhere as well.

To finish off my card I added sparkle to the centers of the flowers with Nuvo Glitter Gloss pen.
