Simple Vintage Old-Fashioned Stocking

Hi friends, these two cards have been done for a while so I figured it was time to share them. Well, we’re past Halloween at least showing the new products not the actual date!

The first card I’m sharing is featuring the Old-Fashioned Stocking Dies by Simple Stories Vintage Old-Fashioned Collection over at Spellbinders.

I was smart and already bought the Simple Stories paper pack, Simple Vintage Old-Fashioned 6X8 from Simon Says Stamp. Using it I die-cut out the one stocking from a pattern and the other from red card stock.

In the paper pack I found a subtle pattern for the background and trimmed it to 5X7 inches. I did ink blend on the pattern paper on the edges with green dye ink just to frame it in but not cover up too much of the pattern.

I die-it out three poinsettias, lots of sprigs, leaves and holly leaves. On all the die-cut elements I blended on dye inks for added dimension.

I threw in pops of gold metallic with the center of the poinsettias, sprigs and the sentiment from the set.

The one thing I see wrong is that when I placed the stockings on the background I had them too high. Because once I added in the flowers and leaves there is a bigger opening at the bottom.

For my second card, it is with the Simple Vintage Old-Fashioned Stamp and Die Set.

I stamped them out with a green dye inks and with the bows a tone one tone with red.

I stamped and gold embossed three of the stars from the set. Using more of the pattern paper from the Simple Vintage Old-Fashioned Paper pack. I cut off a strip 1 3/4 inch by 4 1/4 inches. Adhering it to a Eucalyptus Card stock panel that matches.

With the panel in my Misti I stamped out one of the sentiments in the set directly on the Eucalyptus panel. I did lay out the design to get an idea of where I wanted the sentiment.

Wrapping around a ribbon and tying off a bow over the pattern paper. Looking at it now I should I done a thin strip of red or gold card stock in between the pattern and solid papers.

Next I attached the stamped out elements directly to the panel with liquid glue.
